Abstract
Space weather refers to conditions in space that can influence
technological systems, and can endanger human life or health. In Lund, we
have focused on the solar drivers of space weather. We have also developed
forecasts, based on intelligent systems, of both the space weather and
effects. A space weather package, written in Java, will be delivered to ESA
in October this year. This package could then be customized to specific
users of space weather services, such as satellite and airline operators,
communication and power system companies. The availability of real-time
solar data is however crucial. A solar radar would play an important role.
New exciting results within basic solar physics is also expected from the
observations with a solar radar.
